The traditional medieval fair (Fira Medieval Hostalric 2016) is being held these days in the old town of Hostalric, for the 20th time this year.

Everything is as usual – healthy and fun! For children and adults – dressed-up characters, knightly battles, numerous tents of merchants, trays with different stuff, children’s toys, magic potions and stones, edibles, pickles, jams and sweets; obligatory fried catalan sausages, chicken wings and potatoes with spicy sauce (patatas bravas) and much more …

We invite you to come to Perelada to view the traditional Catalan Christmas performance, or live Nativity scenes (Pessebra vivent in Catalan) which take place these days in many small cities.
The performance in Perelada unfolds on the territory of the beautiful castle Castillo de Perelada. This castle is usually closed to the public during the cold season, so an evening walk through the park is an additional pleasant surprise!

Last Saturday in Barcelona, on the hill of Montjuic, a spectacular event took place – Red Bull Autos Locos. These are crazy races on the craziest cars, the vast majority of which should not drive by definition. The bravest brave men tried not only to survive driving  those ridiculous creations on the track (not all cars could even get to the start!), but even to fight for the first place😀. A lot of crazy daredevils finished their way to glory in hay sheaves, prudently installed by the race organizers on the sides of the track …

We couldn’t take off the race ourselves, but we managed to take a picture of the cars of the participants of the competition; you can admire the flight of unlimited human fantasy via the link – Red Bull Autos Locos 2015.

Traditional Medieval fairs take place, probably, in every Catalan town throughout the year.  This time the Medieval Fair fair swept noisily around the Spanish Village in Barcelona, adding bright colors and fun to the already picturesque surroundings of this entertaining little corner in the capital of Catalona.

Everything, as usual – endless stalls with different things, disguised merchants, medieval warriors in never ending battles, birds of prey exhibitions, wandering musicians… As a result, everyone is happy – both rested parents and satisfied children😀.

Fans of American cars once again gathered this weekend in Playa de Aro. In 2015 this holiday is held already for 26th time. And as usual, the celebration is organized by the American Car Club of Catalonia.

Still, there is something special in those cars – the terrifying roar of the engine, the huge volume, size, charm, charisma…
And for ordinary residents of the city and the first June tourists – this is an excellent opportunity to spend a weekend with family and friends, gaze at polished cars and make super pictures on their background.

The traditional festival of the Catalan tractor drivers “Fira de tractoristes 2015” took place last weekend in the open field near the town of Vidreres. This year, already for the 40th time – quite a long tradition!
Various equipment was lined up in the field; there were police, fire and medical vehicles, various tractors and yellow tow trucks from Viñas company. Mandatory attribute of any fairs and town festivals – a variety of tents selling a variety of food and unbelievable knick-knacks, the purpose of which you can not even guess. The obligatory march of giant dolls is followed by entertaining contests and a demonstration of professional skills for working in the field.

And well, for dessert – an indispensable part of the program – a procession of tractors! More than a hundred, of different ages and epochs, caressed by love of their owners. Quite often on the tractor sit several generations, from grandson to grandfather …

Walking along Besalu on Saturday, April 18, we were surprised to find announcements that the city is hosting a festival of the Texas cowboys in the style of the Wild Wild West (Festa Western a Besalú), and for the 6th time already!

Fans of country-style, American cars, cowboys in obligatory jeans, boots and hats, flags of the Confederation of the Southern States, traditional cowboy fun – rodeo and dancing to live country music – all of the above was concentrated on the fenced site behind the old town…

In the town of Hostalric, famous for its fortress, located on a hill near the AP-7 highway, the annual medieval fair (Fira Medieval de Hostalric) was held from April 3 to 5, 2015. This year it was celebrated for the 19th time.

As it usually happens, the holiday program is quite diverse; various presentations often take place in different parts of the city and in the fortresses, often at the same time. Therefore it is difficult to decide where to run in the first place. This time we were lucky enough to watch archery competitions and knightly battles in a serf ditch. Also we had a chance to participate in preparation and painting of knight shields.
