Perpignan, France

Perpignan is the capital of the administrative region of the Eastern Pyrenees in France, the former Catalan city and in the past it used to be even the capital of the Kingdom of Majorca. Since those times immemorial, only the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, which is a little away from the city center, has survived to our time.

Among other attractions worth noting is the luxurious Cathedral in the old town; Fort Le Castillet, overlooking the unusual two-tiered embankment of the river La Bassa, planted with flowers, as well as the café Espi, located on the embankment, famous for its incredible pastries.

Carnival in Playa de Aro 2016

Карнавал в Плайя де Аро 2016

Carnival in Playa de Aro 2016.

On February 6, 2016, a traditional noisy event took place on the central street of Playa de Aro – the carnival, practically, the central event of the year!
Local residents taking part in the carnival begin to prepare for it in advance, come up with and sew bright, memorable costumes, build a  carnival carts of incredible design.
If they would have done it in May, when the streets are warm and green, then it would be priceless! But since the carnival takes place in Playa de Aro in winter, you have to dress warmer, take something containing alcohol to keep warm inside(the doctors recommend!) and rush quickly to the city. To park a car on this day is quite a difficult task, as well as finding a better place to watch the carnival procession.
Let’s finish talking and let’s see what happened there!

Girona

Girona – a fairy tale city, a dream city! The capital of the province of the same name, traditionally the richest region of Catalonia. The city is more than 2,000 years old, its history is full of events, like a chronicle in the newspaper of the yellow press. Iberians, Romans, Visigoths, Moors and Franks managed to visit here. The strategic location of the city between Madrid and Paris, as well as the fertility of local lands made Girona a scene of numerous military conflicts. The once formidable fortress of Girona survived 25 sieges, but surrendered at the mercy of the winner only 7 times. The last time Girona withstood a seven-month siege of Napoleonic troops in 1809, it was then that the city was quite seriously destroyed.

Among the attractions of the old city, the most beautiful church  Església de Sant Feliu should be noted. Here the martyr Saint Felix, as well as the patron saint of the city, Saint Narcissus, are buried. Legend has it that after the capture of the city by the French in 1285, the grave of St. Narcissus was desecrated by the invaders. A flock of angry midges flew out of the grave, which bit the uninvited guests to such an extent that they plunged them into an erratic flight. Saint Narcissus sent his midges several times to defend the city; since then he has been revered as the patron saint of the city, and the fly is a symbol of the city. The celebration of St. Narcissus in Girona lasts a whole week in late October – early November.

Red Bull Autos Locos 2015 in Barcelona

Red Bull Autos Locos 2015 in Barcelona

Last Saturday in Barcelona, on the hill of Montjuic, a spectacular event took place – Red Bull Autos Locos. These are crazy races on the craziest cars, the vast majority of which should not drive by definition. The bravest brave men tried not only to survive driving  those ridiculous creations on the track (not all cars could even get to the start!), but even to fight for the first place😀. A lot of crazy daredevils finished their way to glory in hay sheaves, prudently installed by the race organizers on the sides of the track …

We couldn’t take off the race ourselves, but we managed to take a picture of the cars of the participants of the competition; you can admire the flight of unlimited human fantasy via the link – Red Bull Autos Locos 2015.
