Valdemossa, Mallorca

Valdemossa, Mallorca

We begin our short trip to Mallorca with the small but very cozy medieval town of Valdemossa, well known for its Carthusian monastery, where the famous composer Frederic Chopin lived for almost 2 months in the winter of 1838-1839 with his beloved woman, recognized novel writer George Sand. Chopin’s tuberculosis was not cured, but several famous musical works were born here, in the silence and solitude of the monastery, as well as the book “Winter in Majorca” was wrote by the jaunty pen of George Sand.

Sea trip from Estartit along the coast and to the Medas islands

Sea trip from Estartit along the coast and to the Medas islands

If you are tired of the heat on the beach, we recommend that you take a sea trip on the catamaran of the Nautilus company from the town of L’Estartit up along the Costa Brava coast, and then to the Medas islands. There are three different options to choose from, the longest three-hour option is to cruise along the coast to the ruins of the ancient city of Ampurias, swim in a secluded bay with crystal clear water, where you can never reach from the shore, and finally see the underwater flora and fauna of the Medas islands – a national natural park located just opposite the Estartit.
More detailed information and photos taken during our trip can be viewed at the link – Sea trip from Estartit.

Vall de Nuria in the summer

Валь де Нурия, Vall de Núria
In the summer, when the merciless heat of August descends on the homes of civilians in Spain, even we, the residents of the Costa Brava, sometimes want to plunge into the coolness, but not into the coolness created by air conditioner, no – to plunge into the real coolness of the thin air of the Pyrenees, to enjoy the sound of mountain streams and to soak our feet into a cooling freshness of the mountain lake… At such moments we go to Vall de Núria; just 1h 35 minutes by car on the C-25 highway past the Montseny Natural Park, and then another 40 minutes of ascent on the “cremallera” – the cog railway – and you are in the realm of greenery and freshness!
We invite you to take a virtual walk to the Vall de Nuria valley, a real oasis in the middle of the summer heat.

American Cars 2017 in Playa de Aro

American Cars 2017 in Playa de Aro
As usual, in June 2017 in Playa de Aro, on the territory of a free parking lot (the one where there is a noisy market on Fridays), traditionally takes place the exhibition of American Cars, held by the Catalan American Cars Club. Everything is as usual – cool cars made over the past 50-60 years, the roar of engines, tires are smoking, sausages are frying, loud rock from the speakers, the public in cowboy hats 🙂
A quick photo report about the event this year can be viewed at the link – American cars 2017.
You can see how it looked in 2019 following the link.

Tractor drivers festival in Vidreres 2017

Tractor drivers festival in Vidreres 2017
Vidreres is a relatively small town located on the right, if you take the C-35 highway towards Barcelona, just before the Lloret de Mar exit. Here, right in the fields, every year the fun holiday Fira de Tractoristes de Vidreres takes place. It’s dedicated to agriculture and the most important machines involved in the difficult task of growing harvest – tractors! More than a hundred growling monsters, all kinds of colors and years of manufacture take part in the traditional defile of tractor drivers, some of those machines are older than their drivers!
A short story about how the festival of tractor drivers took place in Vidreres in 2017 with numerous photos can be viewed following the link.

Cap de Creus Natural Park

Cap de Creus Natural Park
The Cap de Creus Natural Park is located on the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula, in a place where the Pyrenees sink into the waters of the Mediterranean, dividing France and Spain. When people talk about this place, the following words most often sound – fantastic, alien landscapes, and the strongest, knocking down wind…
Almost all of this is true, but you can read in more detail about this picturesque place in our blog following the link – Cap de Creus.
