Maritime Museum of Barcelona

Maritime Museum of Barcelona

Next to the ever populous and raging Rambla, almost at its very beginning, close to the monument to Christopher Columbus, the Maritime Museum of Barcelona is located in a quiet corner in the building of the former Royal Shipyards. The Royal Shipyards have been located here since 1243, and over the past centuries many Spanish war galleys were built here. And since 1936 the Maritime Museum has been located here, among the many exhibits of which one can highlight a replica of the famous flagship royal galley of the XVI century, as well as the first Catalan submarine, constructed in 1859.
A detailed story about the history of the museum and its exhibits, as well as their photos, you can read and see in our blog following the link.

The usual story – you purchased a property in Catalonia, preferably on the Costa Brava coast, then begins the process of exploring the countless natural and historical attractions that are ubiquitous in this blessed land. Gradually, the radius of your trips increases until the question arises – is it reasonable to travel a large number of kilometers per day, although on good, high-quality and scenic roads, but nonetheless; and then you start thinking, why not spending a night somewhere along the route?Of course, a hotel or several private houses / apartments in different parts of Spain / France, as well as in other countries of Europe / the rest of the world can help in planning an exciting trip.
But there is another option for initiates – a house on wheels. Millions of people in the world travel this way without being tied to hotels or airplanes, airport strikes and other troubles. You can stop virtually anywhere where your heart desires, have a picnic, enjoy the colors of the sunset with a glass of wine, and early in the morning, waking up early, enjoy the sunrise over the sea, or go for mushrooms, ahead of the mushroom pickers who just start their cars to get to the forest…

Sandy rocks in Ille-sur-Tet, France (Les Orgues d’Ille-sur-Têt)

Sandy rocks in Ille-sur-Tet, France (Les Orgues d'Ille-sur-Tet)

As you know, the most talented creator in this world is nature itself. Another proof of this are the incredible sandy rocks in the form of giant columns, staring at the sky and resembling the pipes of an organ of enormous size in the vicinity of the small town of Ille-sur-Têt in France, 50 kilometers from the Spanish border. As scientists say (and we have no reason not to trust them!), this structure is not too young, just some 4-5 million years old, but the remaining lifespan for these rocks is quite short – sand columns erode more and more with each rain that passed , and their appearance subtly changes. Perhaps they will last for rest of our lifetime, but better hurry!
More photos and a short story with information on route planning can be viewed following the link – Sandy Rocks in Ille-sur-Tet.

Retro Auto Moto Museum, Barcelona

Retro Auto Moto Museum Barcelona
If you are walking around Barcelona close to the Palace of Catalan Music, do not miss the opportunity to visit the Retro-Auto-Moto Museum, which contains vintage cars and motorcycles of the past (the oldest exhibit dates back to 1897!), disappeared brands from existing or disappeared countries ( including from the republics of the former USSR).
On the three floors of the building constructed in 1880, in an area of 1,500 square meters there are more than 80 diligently restored representatives of the automotive and motorcycle industry, most of which, by the way, can still move under their own power. A journey into the past will not leave indifferent either children or adults! A short story and more photos from the museum can be viewed following the link – Retro-Auto-Moto Museum.
