Cruise ship Marella Discovery 2 in Palamos

Today, a significant event took place in the port of Palamos – the cruise ship Marella Discovery 2, managed by the famous tour operator TUI from the UK, moored at the pier.
Why is this event so important? Yes, simply because another record was set – this is the longest cruise ship that stops at the port of Palamos, its length is 264.26 m. And the previous largest tourist ship, Marella Voyager, although quite a bit, is still shorter – 262.51m. Even though it’s just over a meter, it’s already a record!

The Marella Discovery 2 has 11 decks with 918 cabins that can accommodate up to 1,836 passengers. Vacationers have 8 restaurants, 7 bars, 2 swimming pools and 9 elevators at their disposal! This huge ship and its passengers are served by an impressive crew of 771 people. The vessel’s cruising speed is 24 knots (44 kilometers per hour).

In Palamos, arriving tourists were offered a choice of two options. One of them is a relaxing tour to Lloret de Mar with a visit to the Gardens of Santa Clotilde, followed by a trip with a walk through Tossa de Mar. Another option is a trip on a tourist train through the traditional Catalan countryside to learn about the process of growing rice, followed by a visit to the medieval village of Pals.
